Dear Friends,
St. Luke's Church is a mission of the Diocese of Western Anglicans
(DWA) of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA). You can learn
more about the DWA at www.westernanglicans.org and the ACNA at www.anglicanchurch.net.
The ACNA is in the process of becoming the 39th province of the worldwide
Anglican Communion. Anglican Communion churches are those historically
connected with the Church of England. Our bishop is William Thompson
of Long Beach, CA. Our archbishop is William Duncan of Pittsburgh,
PA.
I am a transitional deacon. A transitional deacon is an ordained
clergyperson who is a candidate for ordination as a priest. A deacon
is authorized by the bishop and sent forth by a parish to preach,
teach, serve, baptize and administer Holy Communion using the Reserved
Sacrament. The Reserved Sacrament is the elements of bread and wine
previously consecrated by a priest as the Body and Blood of Christ.
I am a "vicar." A “vicar” is a representative of a rector
or bishop in charge of a mission.
St. Luke's is a "church plant." A “church plant” is a
new congregation just getting started. I am a "tent maker." That
is, I work at my regular profession as a doctor of chiropractic and
receive no compensation for my work in the mission. However, I am
reimbursed for church expenses.
There is much more to learn about St. Luke’s on this website. You
can contact me at 307-272-6325, at info@stlukescody.com or at my
clinic at 832 19th St., Cody, WY 82414.
Yours in Christ,
Dwayne S. Borgstrand, Vicar
